Murgitroyd, the pan-European intellectual property (IP) protection business, has acquired the UK-based IP business, TLIP Ltd. The move is Murgitroyd’s fourth acquisition inside two years and further strengthens its position as a leading player in the European IP protection sector.

Murgitroyd, the pan-European intellectual property protection (IP) business, has acquired the Glasgow-based IP specialist firm, Creation IP. The move is the latest step in Murgitroyd’s growth and expansion strategy and is the company’s third acquisition inside eight months.

Scottish company Murgitroyd Group has been acquired for £62.8 million by Sovereign Capital Partners LLP. The firm has been bought by Project Petra Bidco, a newly-incorporated entity indirectly controlled by funds managed by Sovereign Capital Partners, at 675p a share.
IP attorney firm Murgitroyd has received a takeover bid from Sovereign Capital Partners, the London-based private equity firm. Murgitroyd said the offer valued the firm at about £61 million and the stake of chairman Ian Murgitroyd at about £16m.
