Aberdeen shopping centre and leisure complex Union Square is set to change ownership in an investment deal worth £111 million. The deal has been sealed by UK-listed retail property giant Hammerson, with completion expected by the end of the first quarter of 2024.

Hammerson, the retail property company which owns Aberdeen's Union Square and Glasgow's Silverburn, has seen a major slump in rents, as two-thirds of the rent it expected to collect last week was not sent due to the economic impact of the coronavirus pandemic.
Hammerson, the owner of both the Glasgow Silverburn and Aberdeen Union Square shopping centres, has seen its pre-tax losses plummet to £573.8 million in the year to December 31st.
