Yorkshire Building Society announces former Lloyds boss as new chief executive
Yorkshire Building Society has announced former Lloyds and Asda boss Mike Regnier as its new chief executive.
Currently the building society’s chief customer officer and an executive director, Mr Regnier will replace Chris Pilling, who announced in June his decision to step down in order to spend more time with his family.
Subject to regulator approval, Mr Regnier, who joined the Society in 2014, will take the helm at the UK’s second-largest building society on January 1.
He was formerly products and marketing director at Lloyds Banking Group, where he was responsible for the TSB relaunch on the high street.
Hailing the building society’s 150-year history, he said: “Our mutual values, dedicated colleagues and continued financial strength enable us to focus on what matters most to our customers – helping them to save for the future and buy a home of their own.”
He added: ““I’m very much looking forward to working with the Board, the senior management team and all of our colleagues as we continue to build on our success.”
The building society’s chairman, John Heaps, thanked Mr Pilling for his “tremendous contribution.”
He said of Mr Regnier: “His commitment to mutual values, his engaging style of leadership and his clear strategic outlook will all help to ensure he builds on the society’s continued success.”
