William Duncan + Co growth fuels expansion and focus towards virtual finance
William Duncan + Co, one of Scotland’s longest established Chartered Accountancy practices and business advisers, has announced a number of changes in the run up to the company’s 100th birthday, including the launch of a new corporate advisory division in Glasgow and the opening of new offices in Kilmarnock.
The launch of the service and the opening of the new offices complete a number of changes within the business over the last two years and means that the 80 strong team at William Duncan + Co are now able to offer the full complement of services to clients across the West of Scotland.
The experienced corporate finance team is made up of Iain Webster (director), Mark Barry (head of corporate advisory), Jamie Beal and Arlene McBain and together they will provide the full range of corporate finance and advisory services to SMEs, including M&A, fundraising and due diligence.
Mr Barry has a particular specialism in intellectual property valuation, recognising the growing value and importance of IP in the majority of transactions, and has vast experience working directly with creditors, funders and regulatory bodies. They join William Duncan’s Glasgow office which expanded and relocated to larger premises early last year. In addition to corporate advisory, the boutique office provides business recovery, specialist tax, specialist general practice and virtual finance services powered by Xero.
Director Graeme Bryson will head up the new Kilmarnock office which opened this week and will provide the full range of accountancy and tax advice services, with a strong emphasis on the delivery of service through the cloud.
Managing director, Robert Fergusson said: “The business has expanded significantly and introduced a number of new services in the past few years and it is an exciting time for us. Whilst we cover a wide geography, we do have an affinity with Ayrshire and the West of Scotland, and will remain true to our roots. The days of the traditional practice are numbered and William Duncan is embracing that change with an increased emphasis in virtual finance and cloud delivery. I am delighted that Mark and Jamie have joined us – their appointments reflect our commitment to building a market-leading corporate advisory service for our clients throughout the west coast of Scotland. The real driver of the business is the quality of our people and the ability to deliver first class services to our clients using the modern cloud approach.”
Mark Barry added: “Through the expertise of their staff and the use of innovative cloud accounting software, William Duncan + Co has a track record of supporting clients on an ongoing basis to ensure that their businesses flourish and are equipped to face any challenges as they arise. I am thrilled to join the team at William Duncan and hope to further augment and grow the Corporate Advisory team from our base in Glasgow, and contribute to the business’ ongoing success.”
