Waitrose to invest record £1bn in new locations and store improvements
Waitrose has announced it is ramping up investment in its store portfolio with plans to open up to 100 convenience shops across the UK over the next five years.
The upmarket grocery chain has mainly has stores in the south of England but only a handful exist in Scotland. It’s Scottish locations currently include a store in Glasgow’s West End, Newton Mearns, Milngavie, two stores in Edinburgh, and a further two in Stirling.
Waitrose also has two ‘Little Waitrose’ convenience shops in Edinburgh and Livingston.
The company’s new store investment programme will see it inject a record £1 billion over the next three years into improvements to 150 existing shops and new stores, expanding its reach across Scotland.
