The Marine Hotel, which stands next to the edge of the 18th hole of the Royal Troon Golf Course, has been bought by joint venture partners Hetherley Capital Partners and Cannock Investments.

The multi-million pound deal comes after the four star site, which boasts 89 rooms and a spa, was put on the market by its owners, The Hotel Collection, with a £7m price tag.

The hotel has undergone refurbishment in recent years and also features a health and leisure club and conference centre.

Hetherly Capital Partners, a London-based asset management giant which specialises in hotel investment, hands over the running of their sites to franchisees.

They already operate one Holiday Inn north of the border in Dundee.

The Marine, which has been in long term decline, has stunning vistas over the Clyde coast and will boast prime position when the eyes of the sporting world turn on the town for next year’s Open Championship.

On their website, Hetherly say they specialise in “acquiring under-valued, under-performing hotel assets”.

They add: “The Hetherley team are experts in hotel real estate, utilising their proven investment strategies to help hotels achieve their potential.”
