Turcan Connell to hold Carbon Seminar Series

Law firm Turcan Connell is hosting a series of short virtual seminars covering the legal (and other) implications of the evolving market for trading carbon in the UK.

Land and property partner Don Macleod said: “Over the last couple of years we have been advising some of the major participants in the UK forestry and peatland carbon markets, and it seems to us that the evolution of the market is now at a relatively critical juncture.

“Whilst some say that the market is still in its infancy, and the risks are difficult to quantify, in actual fact the UK Woodland Carbon Code has been in circulation for more than a decade. Norms are beginning to develop in carbon contracts in relation to the allocation of liabilities and risks amongst the landowner, the end user and the organisation that has brokered the sale.”

The seminars will cover topics including: whether the UK carbon standards are fit for purpose; the evolution of the market in it’s first decade and where the market is heading; and how a commercial market sits with climate change and community drivers.

The seminars are open to all, and for further details please click here.
