Trio of appointments at Lockton Scotland as broker maintains upward growth
Corporate insurance broker Lockton is further expanding its risk advisory capabilities in Scotland with the appointment of three more corporate professionals.
The latest talent acquisitions take headcount at the firm’s Scottish operation, which has posted double-digit growth again this year, to 15, with the planned addition of another three in the next financial year starting in May.
The latest appointees include Moira McStravock, who has 27 years’ experience in the industry and has focused for most of her career on commercial sized opportunities.
She said: “Scotland’s economy is dominated by SMEs and this represents a real growth area for Lockton Scotland. I will design and implement our commercial initiative, working with partner insurers to give our clients and prospective clients a choice of programmes.
“Lockton will also provide a bespoke and personalised service which we believe is severely lacking for businesses in this category.”
Maria McNulty, meanwhile, bring 25 years of experience, 20 of which were with national brokers. She also has significant expertise in dealing with sizeable UK companies and multi-national clients which fits with another key part of the Lockton Scotland strategy.
She said: “I have specialised in the past in the public sector and oil and gas, which is a key growth area for Lockton. The firm has invested significantly in London and Houston, Texas, which emphasises its intent and credentials in this sector.”
Finally, Carolann Marshall, who has 20 years’ experience, largely in London where specialised in placing property, combined liability and motor fleet coverages, also has considerable expertise in construction and retail, both key target areas for Lockton.
She said: “I have international experience on a cross-class basis and I was the key point of contact for clients in my previous role. I am delighted to be joining Lockton which shares my client-centric focus in business.”
Gordon Duncan, Lockton’s Partner and head of corporate, said: “We are very pleased to have been able to attract three such talented and dedicated professionals to the Lockton Scotland team.
“Moira, Maria and Carolann have a great wealth of experience between them and have enviable track records in some of the most high pressure aspects of the industry. They will be an extremely valuable asset as Lockton goes forward.”
The staffing increases follow a move last year by Lockton into substantially bigger premises in the imposing red sandstone at 145 St Vincent Street in Glasgow, which creates space for headcount to rise to 40.
The Glasgow operation of Lockton was established only in 2014, and it now controls premiums in excess of £14 million. The firm is part of a Kansas-based insurer which has more than £1 billion in revenue and more than 5000 employees in 64 offices globally.
