Thomson Cooper Accountants has successfully raised £7,000 through a tenpin bowling event in Dunfermline for its charity of the year, Marie Curie.

In addition, a bake sale organised by the Cress Company Limited contributed nearly another £1,000 to the fundraising total.

Marie Curie nurses made over 3,200 home visits across Fife last year, supporting those with terminal illnesses and their families. The funds generated by Thomson Cooper are equivalent to 350 hours of community nursing care, according to Charlotte Gilbert, community fundraiser at Marie Curie.

The “Battle of the Balls” challenge took place at Holywood Bowl and involved 22 teams. Sephra Europe Limited emerged victorious, securing the best team title, while Will Burns from Shand and Burns Financial Ltd bagged the best individual title.

Andrew Croxford, senior partner at Thomson Cooper said: “We would like to thank our clients and business contacts for their generous donations and for taking part in the event.

“It was a great night and we are delighted to have raised so much for Marie Curie.”

Cathy Scott, chair of the Marie Curie Fundraising Group Dunfermline, said: ” All the people from the group who took part as representatives of Marie Curie, felt extremely privileged to be part of such a superb evening’s entertainment.

“There was excitement, laughter and anticipation in the air. Some teams finished with exceptional high scores, while our team had lots of fun and managed what we thought was a fair score.

“The presentation of such a large cheque was the highlight of our evening, and was also overwhelming as donations such as this, only happen when companies or organisations put in a lot of hard work to make it happen.

“We are really grateful for the generosity of Thomson Cooper Accountants, and their clients and thank them all from the bottom of our hearts.”
