Thomson Cooper boosts audit team as Fiona Haro obtains ICAS RI approval
Business advisory firm Thomson Cooper has announced that Fiona Haro, its head of charities, has been approved by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland (ICAS) to become a Responsible Individual (RI) for audit purposes, the fourth member of their partnership team to hold RI status.
Ms Haro, a partner in the firm since 2005, heads up the Not For Profit audit team responsible for managing the firm’s offering to this sector. As a charity specialist, she advises on audits, independent examinations, accounts preparation, management accounts and trustee training. Ms Haro is personally involved in the UK wide charity Playlist For Life, so has hands-on experience of the issues trustees face in running their organisations.
Thomson Cooper offers a diverse range of compliance, business advisory, wealth management and recovery services from offices in Dunfermline and Edinburgh. Their audit portfolio features many household names across public, private and non-profit sectors.
Andrew Croxford, senior partner and head of audit, said: “Audit is an increasingly specialist service and one that has undergone many changes. While some firms have withdrawn their audit offering due to increasingly stringent regulations, we have invested in our audit team to deliver a level of personal service that larger firms struggle to provide. I am delighted that Fiona will bring her detailed knowledge of charities to her role as an audit partner.”
In achieving this recognition, Fiona Haro added: “I look forward to fulfilling my audit responsibilities and growing our audit base specifically in the Not For Profit sector. The next few years will be challenging for many organisations and we are well placed to deliver a robust, reputable and tailored audit service that clients can rely on.”
