Thomson Cooper appointed administrator at Galashiels house builder Murray & Burrell Limited 

Dunfermline-based accountancy firm Thomson Cooper has announced that Partner Richard Gardiner has been appointed as administrator of Galashiels-based house building and contracting business Murray & Burrell Limited.

The privately owned, independent business was established in 1928 and was a significant employer locally.

In a statement the firm said: “The Directors explored all options in an effort to preserve trading and jobs.

“Regrettably, 38 jobs were lost as there is no prospect of continuing to trade.

“Partnership Action for Continuing Employment (PACE) has coordinated a range of agencies to provide advice, guidance and support for the employees.”
