Edinburgh-based Tesco Bank has announced the appointment of Declan Hourican as its new chief financial officer.

Mr Hourican joins Tesco Bank, which employs most of its 4,000-strong workforce in Edinburgh and Glasgow and has its HQ in the Scottish capital, in October after 14 years at Royal Bank of Scotland.

A graduate of University College Dublin and the Michael Smurfit Graduate School of Business, Dublin, and a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants, he takes over from Peter Bole having been chief finance and administrative officer in RBS’s restructuring division.

He will become a member of the Tesco Bank Executive Committee and Board.

Benny Higgins, Tesco Bank Chief Executive Officer, said: “I’m delighted that someone of Declan’s calibre has been appointed to this critically important position. Declan has a proven track record of helping provide outstanding service for customers, and he will play an important role in helping Tesco Bank deliver its ambition to be the bank for people who shop at Tesco.”

The role is subject to regulatory approval.
