Spotless cleans up with Fluid Hygiene acquisition

Spotless CEO Carron Henley with Fluid Hygiene founder and managing director Alister Gregson

Edinburgh-headquartered Spotless Commercial Cleaning has acquired English firm Fluid Hygiene (FH), a hospitality sector cleaning specialist which has been operating for over three decade.

Based in New Malden, Surrey, FH was set up in 1993 by its managing director Alister Gregson who now joins Spotless as a non-exec director. Through the deal, Spotless annual revenues will grow to over £34m while its headcount rises to more than 2,100 people.

FH’s senior management team and its 600 employees become part of the expanding Spotless group which now operates a network of 14 offices across the UK.

The acquisition widens Spotless’s South East England customer base across its core market of professional and commercial offices, and opens up new opportunities for the company within the UK hospitality sector where FH has established a formidable track record. While joining the Spotless group, the FH brand will be retained for the foreseeable future.

Spotless CEO Carron Henley said: “This latest acquisition is an ideal fit as it builds our presence across South East England where FH has established a strong market share, especially within the hospitality sector.

“Both companies have collaborated together on national projects where we have discovered we share a close cultural alignment with a strong focus on people development. We will further develop this ethos as part of a larger group.”

Spotless chairman and founder Roger Green said: “I’m delighted to welcome Alister and his experienced team to the Spotless group. This is our fourth acquisition, with others already in planning stage, and one that further builds our presence across both the north and south of the UK, with our team now numbering more than 2000 employees.”
