Scottish restaurant chain, Six by Nico, is bringing its creative culinary experience to Cardiff, Wales.

The expansion to Cardiff, set to open on 14 August 2023, underscores the brand’s commitment to providing an accessible yet innovative dining experience.

Occupying the former Zizzi’s premises at 27 High Street, the new addition to the Welsh capital is expected to enthral both locals and tourists. The restaurant’s unique rotating six-course tasting menu changes every six weeks, offering a dynamic gastronomic experience. The menus, masterminded by Nico Simeone and his skilled team, including chief creative officer Andy Temple and chief operations officer Rachael Rafferty, are renowned for their intricate flavour profiles, exceptional presentation, and high-quality service.

Since its inception in Glasgow in 2017, Six by Nico has enjoyed both international recognition and critical success, spawning successful ventures in key cities such as Edinburgh, Dublin, Manchester, Leeds, Aberdeen, Belfast, and London. The Cardiff location marks a significant milestone as the brand’s first venture in Wales.

With menus priced at £39 per person, each innovative menu narrates a story through beautifully crafted dishes, curated to stir emotions and engage the senses. Diners can also opt for a specially selected wine and drinks pairing for an additional £30 per person.

Mr Simeone said: “We have been lucky enough to grow our concept, since opening a small 30 cover restaurant in Glasgow in 2017. Cardiff marks a huge milestone for us, as this will be our first location in Wales.

“We are really excited to bring our ever-evolving experience to the community of Cardiff and Wales - it’s a special moment for me and the team who have been here since the beginning, we can’t wait to show off the Six by Nico experience.”

The new Six by Nico location, adjacent to the historic Cardiff Castle, echoes the landmark’s medieval and Victorian Gothic structures, bringing a modern, stylish twist to the decor. The restaurant’s design pays tribute to the dragonfly, combining earthy tones and a high-energy ambiance that aligns with the innovative dining experience.

The venture is set to generate 40-50 new jobs in Cardiff, ranging from front of house to back of house and managerial roles, boosting local employment.
