Sin Bin: Rangers boys club accountant facing jail over £55,000 laundering scam
The treasurer of the Rangers Supporters Association Boys Club is facing jail after she used the club’s books to launder £55,000 from the company she worked for.
Margaret Stewart, 47, who worked in the accounts department of Ivanhoe Cambridge UK, owners of Glasgow’s St Enoch Centre, siphoned the cash from her employers over a three year period.
Stewart paid cheques, signed by bosses who believed they were going to legitimate payees, into the Rangers Supporters Association Boys Club account before embezzling it.
Stewart, from Hamilton, South Lanarkshire pled guilty at Glasgow Sheriff Court to taking the money between May 2008 and January 2011.
Sheriff Linda Ruxton will sentence Stewart next month. Bail was continued.
