Shepherd and Wedderburn has announced its year-end results.

Turnover grew 26 per cent to £48 million, whilst profits increased to £18m, results which also reflect the contribution since October 2014 of the firm’s acquisition of Tods Murray.

Real estate & infrastructure and financial services made advances with revenue up on last year by 26 and 21 per cent respectively.

For the corporate group, deals during 2014 amounting to an aggregate value of £5.2 billion translated into annual revenues 24 per cent up on the previous year.

Chief executive Stephen Gibb said: “I’m delighted to be reporting the strongest results in the firm’s history.

“These results are due to the tremendous loyalty and support that we have enjoyed from our clients and whom we have supported in achieving some great things over the last year, as well as the hard work of everyone at Shepherd and Wedderburn in consistently delivering the highest quality of advice and service.

“This achievement during the year which saw us undertake a major acquisition is doubly rewarding.”

The firm pushed ahead with its planned investment in technology infrastructure and training, “and this”, said Mr Gibb, “meant that we were better equipped to quickly integrate Tods Murray following acquisition in October.”

He added: “At the coalface of managing that integration process, our teams ensured business as usual, while, behind the scenes, they worked tirelessly to facilitate a smooth migration of people, clients and systems to Shepherd and Wedderburn.

“Migrating 3,500 clients, 6,800 matters and 2.1 million documents in the space of just ten weeks was a significant achievement!”

In last year’s Lawyer Awards, the firm was named as “Competition Team of the Year”, and is in this year’s shortlist for the same award.

The firm was also recognised as “Pro Bono Firm of the Year” at the Scottish Legal Awards, and also won an award from Scottish Business in the Community.
