Second tenant signed up at NFU Mutual’s refurbished Glasgow office development

191 West George Street, NFU Mutual’s landmark office development in Glasgow city centre, has secured its second occupier following completion of an extensive refurbishment project.

Hewlett Packard, a global IT firm that produces technology and enterprise products, solutions and services, has taken the entire fifth floor, extending to almost 11,000 sq ft, on a 15 year lease. The firm is due to take occupation soon following a period of fitting out.

In July it was announced that Edrington-Beam Suntory UK secured the fourth floor; the drinks company has recently taken occupation following an extensive fit out project.

Tom Foley, NFU Mutual asset manager, said: “To secure a tenant as prestigious as HP at the rental level achieved is a real testament to the comprehensive refurbishment we decided to undertake following the building becoming vacant in 2016. The building is well positioned in the current market and with a significant amount of space still available, I am genuinely excited to see what 2019 brings for 191 West George Street.”

The £5.5 million refurbishment project by NFU Mutual created 87,000 sq ft of Grade A office space over six levels with virtually column-free floorplates that range from 10,432 – 15,011 sq ft.

The building boasts a stunning new double height, spacious entrance foyer with a newly re-positioned screen and circular revolving automatic door, as well as a feature concrete wall panel, showcase lighting and glass wing speed lanes.

Refurbishment works also included remodelling and renovating the common parts and office suites, with the atrium from floors 1 – 4 now infilled. Soft spots between floors have been created to allow tenants who are located on two or more floors the option of creating a private internal staircase spanning between separate floors.

With high quality finishes throughout, Hewlett Packard, Edrington-Beam Suntory UK and other future occupiers benefit from flexible and efficient floor plates with LED lighting, 40 garaged car park spaces, 50 cycle racks and an abundance of sports style changing rooms with lockers, drying rooms and high powered showers.

191 West George Street is one of the most prominent buildings within the Central Business District of Glasgow, occupying a highly visible position on the corner of West George Street and Wellington Street. Its location in the heart of the city centre also allows occupiers easy access to a host of public transport options, the main retail thoroughfares and endless amenities.

JLL acted for Hewlett Packard in the transaction whilst joint letting agents Knight Frank and JLL represented NFU Mutual.
