Scottish turnaround specialist BRS appoints Anthony Allen as group business development manager
Glasgow-based business turnaround consultancy BRS has appointed Anthony Allen as group business development manager.
Mr Allen will be responsible for driving growth across the BRS Group’s three core service divisions, BRS Consulting, BRS Credit Management and BRS Capital, supporting distressed SME businesses when they most need it.
A former banker with extensive experience in the financial services sector, Mr Allen joins BRS from the Lending Crowd where he was responsible for development of SME lending, and prior to that he was in business development with Barclays Bank and the Clydesdale and Yorkshire Bank Group.
Danny Jamieson, managing director of BRS Corporate Services Group, said: “With the UK entering recession, and HMRC once again a preferred creditor, we are already experiencing an increase in enquiries from businesses seeking help. This is a key strategic appointment that will help consolidate our position as the business partner of choice for companies looking to stabilise their financial position, develop a sound recovery strategy and grow.
“Anthony is a skilled negotiator with an excellent track record in relationship management and has achieved some truly outstanding results throughout his career. He brings experience in risk and change management to the role and will be an asset to our team, and to our clients.”
BRS are currently assisting Scottish clients across a range of industries, providing support as they face challenges resulting from the impact of COVID-19. Last year BRS successfully completed negotiations to sell the assets, designs, manufacturing and distribution rights of Texas-based oil and gas instrument provider Ecosse Design Inc., to Spartek Systems Inc., the Canadian geophysical instrumentation company.
Anthony Allen added: “I have worked in financial services lending for 14 years, helping businesses to secure the commercial finance they need to survive and grow. During lockdown I was working with businesses to provide advice and support when no-one else was able to. It made me realise that many businesses don’t have the right people to help them when they are in financial distress, and don’t know who to turn to, and I know I can make a difference.
“BRS has built up an excellent reputation over the past 10 years working with and supporting distressed businesses to stabilise and recover. This is an exciting opportunity to accelerate developments at BRS and I’m delighted to join such an experienced and highly regarded team of professionals.”
