One of the largest processors of premium Scottish salmon, smoked in Scotland, is set for continued expansion into international markets, with help from a £3.2 million funding deal from Royal Bank of Scotland.

Lossie Seafoods, based in Buckie, specialises in the sale of quality seafood including premium Scottish smoked salmon under the banner of ‘Pride of Scotland’.

The product is also supplied to some of the UK’s high-end supermarkets.

Acquired by Associated Seafoods Ltd. in 2011, Lossie Seafoods has grown considerably, and is now looking to expand its exports into further countries across the globe.

Thanks to ambitious growth plans, the business has also created 50 new jobs in the last year, with hopes of more to follow as production increases.

Victor West, managing director of Associated Seafoods Ltd., said: “Our goal is to produce the finest quality Scottish seafood for customers around the world, and really put Scotland and its products onto the map.

“Lossie Seafoods was founded over 100 years ago, and we still use smoking and curing techniques developed over the generations. Our extensive experience makes us stand out in the market, and our focus on quality has seen Lossie Seafoods win many awards for its produce.”

Eileen Tocher, relationship director at Royal Bank of Scotland, said: “Victor and the team at Lossie Seafoods supply the highest quality products possible, which is opening up opportunities for the business, both nationally and abroad. The company has expanded at a rapid rate in the last few years, thanks to the team’s ambitious growth plans and their dedication.”
