Scottish Friendly appoints Susan Beckett as non-executive director
Financial mutual Scottish Friendly has announced the appointment of Susan Beckett as a non-executive director.
Ms Beckett has more than 30 years’ financial services experience and will continue in her role as chief risk officer at Brewin Dolphin, where she has spent the last six years.
Before that, she held senior leadership positions at a range of blue-chip firms including Schroders, JP Morgan, Barclays Global Investors, BlackRock, Kleinwort Benson, and the BT Pension Scheme.
At Scottish Friendly, Ms Beckett will chair the Board Risk Committee, having received the necessary regulatory approval.
She is also currently a non-executive director and chair of the Board Risk Committee for Brewin Dolphin Wealth Management, Dublin, and executive sponsor of Women at Brewin, a network aimed at influencing a traditional culture to grow and become more inclusive.
As assets under management continue to grow at Scottish Friendly, following the acquisition of a £2.4 billion book of life and pensions business from Canada Life, Ms Beckett’s risk management experience will play an integral role in the company’s development.
Susan Beckett said: “I am delighted to be joining a business like Scottish Friendly which holds such a long and proud heritage. I look forward to working closely with the rest of the Board and using the experience I have to help the business to further enhance its risk strategy.”
Jim Galbraith, chief executive, Scottish Friendly, added: We are delighted to welcome Susan Beckett as non-executive director. She will play a critical role in helping to grow the business by providing important, strategic counsel as we continue to deliver sustainable growth in value for new and existing members.”
