Scottish Building Society unveils upgraded Galashiels branch
The Scottish Building Society has reaffirmed its commitment to Scotland’s high streets by unveiling its revamped Galashiels relationship centre on Bank Street, part of a nationwide investment in its physical branches.
CEO Paul Denton joined staff and local members in celebrating the refurbishment, which has transformed the branch into a more inviting and comfortable space for Galashiels residents. Attendees also raised a toast to the society’s 175th anniversary, which is being celebrated throughout 2023.
Scottish Building Society has been a fixture in Galashiels for more than 168 years through the presence of Galashiels Provident Building Society which then merged with Scottish Building Society.
As many high street banks reduce their physical locations, Scottish Building Society is bucking the trend and has instead made a significant investment into refurbishing its branches across the country, including Aberdeen, Inverness and Troon, over the last 12 months. It will also soon open a new city-centre Edinburgh location as it cements its presence on popular Scottish high streets.
Mr Denton said: “We are aware that digital innovation has transformed how many of us bank, but we also know that our members still want to visit a physical branch and chat with somebody face-to-face.
“That’s why we have made such a significant investment into future-proofing our relationship centres and ensuring that our customers have an inviting place to visit to discuss important financial decisions.
“This year is very special for Scottish Building Society as we mark our 175th anniversary. Although times may have changed since our foundation in 1848, our purpose as a mutual society remains consistent and I am very proud to have celebrated this with our valued Galashiels members and hear about what being a member means to them.
“The launch of our new-look relationship centre aligns with the next chapter of Scottish Building Society as we continue our mission to deliver uncomplicated financial products in a friendly way.”
