Scottish bank pair jailed over baby girl abuse
Two former Bank of Scotland employees have been jailed over the sexual abuse of a one-year old girl after embarking on a workplace affair.
David Harper, 36, began a fling with married Jennifer Maguire in 2012 while they both worked at the bank’s branch in Uddingston, Lanarkshire, where they would have sex in the office when other colleagues were not there.
Hamilton Sheriff Court heard how Harper began encouraging Maguire, 31, to take photographs and film footage of her sexually assaulting the child in question before sending them to him.
The duo’s crimes were uncovered by bank bosses following a probe into claims Harper had been harassing another female employee.
Both admitted a charge of sexual assault on a child while Harper, of Uddingston, also admitted making indecent photographs of children and threatening to publish private photographs of another woman.
Maguire, of Blantyre, admitted a charge of distributing or showing indecent photographs.
She was ordered to serve three years.
Police found 9,870 images of children and videos on Harper’s laptop and he was jailed for four and-a-half years.
Fiscal depute Natalie Henderson said: “Jennifer Maguire committed the sexual acts and recorded them and sent them to David Harper. The accused Harper accepts that he invited her to do this and she agreed.”
