Float, a Scottish fintech startup offering cash flow forecasting software, has been crowned winner of the Forecasting, Planning and Analysis Software title at the prestigious Software Excellence Awards recently held in London.

Based in Edinburgh’s Codebase, Float provides cash flow forecasting software for SME’s and boasts upwards of 1500 customers including Scottish Edge winners Skye Candles, helping them to manage, budget and forecast their business’s cash.

The win caps a significant 12 months for the company, with highlights including hitting the £1 million mark through a combination of customer revenues and investment, and launching significant updates to their product.

Speaking of the win, Colin Hewitt, CEO, founder of Float, said: “It means the world to us that our customers believe in Float and find it indispensable to running their businesses. We were honoured to be nominated alongside such titans as Microsoft and Spotlight Reporting, and delighted to have won in our category. It makes all the hard work worth it.”

Launched in response to SME’s increasing demand for clarity and confidence over their cash flow, Float works by linking to the three major accounting platforms (Xero, Quickbooks Online and FreeAgent) to pull in live data to automatically populate forecasts with real data.

The company currently employs 14 staff and has plans to hire a further 4 in the coming months. Float said it is planning to continue its current growth trajectory, aiming to reach profitability in the next 12 months.
