Scots director snaps up bankrupt tycoon’s £10m house for just £2.5m
Property entrepreneur Elliot Robertson has bought the mansion of a bankrupt Scots tycoon in a cut-price deal for just in excess of £2.5 million.
The grand property, called Kirkton Park, in Auchterarder, Perthshire, cost about £10m to build, making it the country’s most expensive modern home, according to The Herald.
However, it was put up for sale for offers over £3.4m by tycoon Graham Gillespie’s bankruptcy trustee in January last year, with the proceeds going towards paying off Mr Gillespie’s creditors.
Mining and property magnate Mr Gillespie, 59, was made bankrupt in 2012 with debts of £12.8m.
The price of his home was cut by almost £500,000 earlier this year in a bid to find a buyer.
Property records show it was sold to the Elgin-based businessman and director at family construction firm Robertson Group, for £2,550,000 earlier this month.
Kirkton Park sits in seven acres of grounds and its entrance features a stone fountain and a manmade pond.
The home, built in 2007, has its own cinema room, a billiards room, a wine store, a gym, summer house, four car garage and study.
It also boasts a spa with Jacuzzi, steam room, Rasul mud room and a salt cave with two heated benches.
