He will be working closely with Scott McKenzie, current fund manager of both of Saracen’s UK funds, the TB Saracen UK Alpha and TB Saracen UK Income funds.

Saracen’s UK funds have a high active share and prioritise investment in small and mid-cap companies.

The TB Saracen UK Alpha Fund focuses on long-term capital growth while the TB Saracen UK Income Fund aims to provide income exceeding 110 per cent of the dividend income of the MSCI UK AllCap index.

Saracen highlighted Mr Clark’s particular expertise in small and midcap investment, acquired throughout a long and successful career managing UK equity portfolios.

He was formerly a fund manager at Ignis in Glasgow where he managed the Ignis UK Smaller Companies unit trust, among other funds, and achieved a Citywire ‘AAA’ rating for his investment performance.

Following the takeover of Ignis by Standard Life in 2014, he served as a non-executive director of several listed companies.

He has now returned to fund management with Saracen.

Graham Campbell, chief executive of Saracen Fund Managers, said: “David Clark’s experience will strengthen our fund management team as Saracen seeks to take advantage of attractive UK equity opportunities and maintain and build upon the strong performance records of its two UK equity funds.”
