RSM strengthens VAT and indirect tax team with key appointment
Audit, tax and consulting firm RSM has appointed VAT and indirect tax specialist Paul Russell as an associate director in Glasgow.
Mr Russell joins RSM from BDO LLP and has over 18 years specialising in all aspects of VAT and indirect tax, both in practice and within HMRC.
He advises clients on a wide range of issues and has extensive experience in negotiating with HMRC.
In addition, Paul brings a range of specialist expertise in the not for profit, real estate and construction sectors, and in advising clients in relation to partial exemption issues.
In his new role, Paul will provide advice to a large portfolio of clients and will support Jim Burberry, RSM’s head of VAT and indirect tax in Scotland, to grow the practice.
Alan Aitchison, office managing partner of RSM in Glasgow, said: “Paul is a great addition to the team. VAT is an increasingly complex field and Paul brings a wealth of knowledge that will support our clients in a practical way. His appointment highlights further investment and reinforces our ongoing growth plans for our Scottish practice.”
Mr Russell added: “I am absolutely delighted to be joining RSM at this exciting time. The firm has already seen impressive levels of growth and I look forward to contributing towards this. I believe that our offering in Scotland is extremely strong within the middle market and I’m excited to be a part of that.”
