RSM names managing partner in Scotland as new chief operating officer

Robert Ross

RSM UK has announced the appointment of Robert Ross, its managing partner in Scotland, as its new chief operating officer (COO).

Mr Ross’s promotion will see him move from his previous base in Scotland to RSM’s headquarters in London to succeed David Gwilliam who has taken up the role of Chief Executive Officer (CEO).

Mr Ross was responsible for the growth and management of RSM in Scotland and for the consulting service line UK wide.

In addition to 20 years in professional services he worked in the financial services sector for six years in project management and system implementation roles.

Mr Ross said: “I’m delighted to be appointed as Chief Operating Officer for RSM. This period is a really exciting one for the firm as it looks to develop and grow its position as the first-choice adviser to middle market leaders in the UK, and globally. RSM has service and sector line capabilities that are among the most varied in the UK; it has the strongest regional network within the middle market, and; most importantly, it has great people. I look forward to working closely with David and the Leadership Team to ensure we deliver the means to provide our clients with the market-leading services they need to grow, and flourish.”

David Gwilliam, CEO of RSM, said: “I am absolutely delighted to appoint Robert as our new COO. I have worked closely with Robert since he joined the firm in 2003, and more recently in his role as Regional Managing Partner for our Scotland and Northern Ireland region, and as the head of our Consulting services. His credentials speak for themselves. He has successfully led our business in Scotland through challenging market conditions, and ensured its growth. As head of Consulting, he has overseen the near quadrupling of its revenue. I have no doubt that Robert will fulfil his new role with commitment and desire. He has great integrity, and is dedicated to the interests of our people and our clients.”
