Royal Mint reveals new coin
The Royal Mint has revealed its newest coin weighing five kilos with a denomination of £5,000.
The new coin is the largest which the company has ever minted.
The new coin is part of its new Great Engravers series, which celebrates artists who have crafted British coinage.
The Royal Mint described the new series as ‘Struck in history. A timeless collection revived with state of the art innovation and technology.’
The collection begins with the William Wyon’s Una And The Lion design.
William Wyon was a royal academician and chief engraver at the Royal mind from 1828 until 1951.
Only one of the exclusive coins has been made, however, it has already been bought for an undisclosed sum.
The two-ounce gold version of the coin can be purchased from The Royal mint website for £3,995.
