Rising star joins Burness Paull insolvency team
Scottish law firm Burness Paull has poached who it has described as a “rising star” from a rival firm Pinsent Masons to head up its restructuring and insolvency team.
Michael Thomson joins Burness Paull today as a Partner in the firm’s corporate finance division.
Burness Paull chairman Philip Rodney said: “Michael is a rising star. He has deep technical expertise, real commercial acumen and has built up a strong profile in the market, I know he will be an enormous asset to Burness Paull.”
Mr Rodney said the firm had identified specialist restructuring and non-contentious insolvency advice as a target for business growth - and believes Thomson is the ideal person to spearhead the firm’s development in that area.
Mr Thomson, who most recently was a senior associate at Pinsent Masons, trained at Dundas & Wilson and has been a dedicated restructuring and insolvency lawyer for more than ten years.
He said: “I am excited to be joining Burness Paull as Partner. It is a firm of the highest quality and I very much look forward to playing a part in its exciting growth plans.”
