Rettie has hired Daniel Cohen as an associate director from Nicol Estate Agents, as the property firm looks to further strengthen its leadership team in the Southside of Glasgow.

Mr Cohen will be based at Rettie’s Newton Mearns office, working closely with area director Kay Blair who joined from Clyde Property earlier this year.

Rettie reported a strong quarter in Q3, benefitting from sales in the Southside up by double digits over home report values, with apartments and family homes selling for as much as 25 per cent above home report value. Rettie’s Southside offices in Newton Mearns and Shawlands are seeing strong growth in the immediate localities and across Giffnock, Pollokshields, Cathcart, Strathbungo, and Queen’s Park.

Ms Blair said: “One of the drivers fuelling house price increases is families relocating and moving to the Southside and East Renfrewshire to access high-quality state schooling.

“It’s great to have Daniel on board in Newton Mearns, as we continue to build market share across East Renfrewshire.  It is fitting to describe the current market as buoyant, with sales consistently achieving offers well above home report values.”

Mr Cohen, who had previously spent a decade at Nicol Estate Agents, latterly as sales manager, said: “Having grown up in the Southside and lived and operated there and in East Renfrewshire, I’m excited to continue the next phase of my career with Rettie in Newton Mearns, working with colleagues across the Southside, East Renfrewshire, and Scotland.”

Rettie opened its Newton Mearns office in 2015, with fellow associate director Alison Anderson based there since launch. Mr Cohen joins former Nicol Estate Agents colleague Erica McFarlane at Rettie, with the senior sales negotiator joining the firm in 2022.
