Record £8 billion in Scottish food and drink exports
Scotland’s food and drink industry has achieved record high exports despite the impact of Brexit, according to HMRC trade statistics.
The industry’s global exports were worth £8 billion in 2022, a 30.6% increase from the previous year and 8.1% higher than the pre-pandemic peak in 2019.
Likewise, food exports reached an all-time high of £1.9bn, while Scotch whisky exports grew by 37.2% compared to the previous year, representing £1.7bn growth.
The EU market remains key to Scotland’s trade, worth £9.4bn in 2022.
