As well as supplying furniture and white goods to a range of clients, the East Kilbride-based company creates employment opportunities in local communities and has helped support over 50,000 vulnerable families to date.

TFS, which also has branches in Edinburgh, Aberdeen, Dingwall and Merthyr Tydfil, plans to use the funding to build its presence south of the border and service increased business demand from clients.

Currently on the Scotland Excel framework, TFS provides domestic furniture across the social housing sector to housing associations and local authorities, helping them support the most vulnerable in society. It also has student accommodation providers, care homes and serviced apartments amongst its client portfolio.

Over the past three years, TFS has recruited more than 70 new members of staff through its community benefits programme which provides training and employment opportunities for vulnerable members of the community.

It has also supported 19 modern apprentices, some who have experienced homelessness and mental health problems, as well as delivered a bespoke training programme for young people with additional support needs.
