RBS backs £1m makeover for ‘bonnie banks’ hotel

As part of a £6 million refinance package, family-owned Lodge on Loch Lomond, in Luss, has invested more than £1 million in upgrading its guest rooms, suites and restaurant facilities.

The renovations have seen the property transformed over the past 12 months as it seeks to improve its offering which includes 47 rooms, a range of luxury suites, a health spa, and award-winning restaurant Colquhoun’s, which holds two AA rosettes.

Ideally located to explore the west coast, and with panoramic views of Loch Lomond and the surrounding mountains, the hotel has long served visitors to Scotland, including former US presidents Jimmy Carter and Bill Clinton.

The venue is also popular for weddings and can hold up to 200 guests.

Family-owned since opening in 1992, the Lodge is currently operated by Niall Colquhoun, and his wife, Ann. The family also owns and operates the Inn on Loch Lomond, three miles north of Luss on the A82, employing 128 staff in total.

Mr Colquhoun said: “We constantly look at ways we can make the experience at the Lodge as special as possible. Following our refurbishment, we now have a brand new bar and kitchen, we’ve renovated all 20 balconies in our suites and our guest rooms have also been upgraded. Royal Bank of Scotland has been instrumental in supporting our ambitions for the business.”
