Aberdeen-based accountancy firm Hall Morrice has made a series of internal senior management promotions and graduate appointments following a sustained period of growth.

Louise Smith, previously a senior manager has been promoted to audit and accounts director.

Ms Smith has been with Hall Morrice for 16 years beginning as a CA trainee in 2007. She will take on additional responsibilities including technical development of staff plus preparing and guiding the firm as it continues to enhance the audit process, client delivery excellence and the introduction of the digital audit.

Ms Smith, a graduate of Robert Gordon University (RGU) has also recently been appointed to the Grampian Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland (ICAS) Events Committee.

She has achieved promotion whilst working three days per week and looking after two young children so her progression should be an inspiration for all other working parents within the firm.

Emma Crossan is promoted to the position of senior manager of business advisory from her previous position of manager. Ms Crossan, who graduated from Napier University, has worked at Hall Morrice for seven years, beginning in the role of senior analyst. She will now lead a restructuring of the firm’s business advisory function as well as being responsible for the delivery of management accounts and VAT returns.

Hall Morrice also looks forward to a bumper intake of new talent this summer when six CA trainees and three RGU students join the team in the Aberdeen office.

Des Petrie, partner, said: “These promotions and new appointments are part of our strategy to position our team structure for further and continued expansion. Both Louise and Emma are long standing members of the Hall Morrice team and both are committed to team development, progression and to promote excellence.

“We’re delighted that the Hall Morrice approach to staff development leads to so many opportunities for advancement from within and that we are also able to recruit emerging talent to the team.

“We continue to drive our business forward by investing in the development of our team and looking for new recruits at all stages of their accountancy career.”

The promotions are the latest in a series of senior management appointments and promotions at the firm, where recent appointments of Mr Petrie as partner and Chris Colville as tax director were made as part of a long-term strategy to grow the client base, continue to digitise processes and to improve efficiencies further.
