Principal contractor Procast Group has acquired Glasgow-based building surveying and cost consultancy business JC+P Property and Construction Consultants in a six figure deal.

With its HQ in Hamilton, Procast Group has bought over JC+P (previously known as James Clark & Partners Scotland) in a significant acquisition, as both businesses look to grow together.

Procast, which currently employs more than 130 staff specialises in retrofitting work and innovative multi-trade contracting projects across Scotland and the North of England.

JC+P, currently located on the city’s St Vincent Street, primarily works in building surveying, cost consultancy, CDM services and project management, has been bought over in its entirety by Procast Group.

JC+P’s six-strong workforce will transfer over and continue its operations from Procast Group’s Hamilton base in early 2025.

Gordon Ross, director, who has been with JC+P for over two decades, has been appointed managing director and will now sit on the Procast Group board.

The addition of JC+P, which has a turnover of £640,000, strengthens Procast’s business division to eight. It joins Procast Building Contractors, Procast Energy Services, Procast Property Services, Brimar Electrical Solutions, Thermsaver Heating Solutions, CHES and Curtis Heating. With its future firmed up, and ambitious plans for further growth, JC+P are now hiring quantity surveyors and building surveyors in multiple positions.

Procast Group’s latest addition to its portfolio continues its plans for an upward trajectory to add a new business to its roster each year. The move allows for both businesses to lean into each other’s expertise, offer more value to clients, partner up on frameworks and submit bids together for new contracts.

While Procast Group, primarily, work with housing associations and local authorities, JC+P work in other avenues such as private developments, commercial property and education.

Derek Innes, owner and managing director of Procast Group, said: “As we look to continue our growth, and expand further, the addition of JC+P to the Procast family is a huge boost.

“Particularly focusing on our work in retrofitting, the expertise we’ll gain from JC+P will be crucial in delivering more properties, including harder to treat ones, with improved design and build capabilities.

“We’ll be helping to train and invest in its staff, most of whom are long serving, which was a huge selling point for me. This is a huge asset to our business and will really elevate our offering to our clients. We’re happy to have Gordon and his team on board and we can’t wait to start our journey together.”

Mr Ross said: “We are delighted to be joining Procast Group and are looking forward to growing and working together in the new year and beyond.

“Derek, and the team at Procast have built an award-winning business with a highly respected reputation for both delivery of projects and investing and developing the people within their organisation; this ethos and approach is something which we share. We are excited to become part of the Procast Group and being able to enhance the range of services the group can offer.”
