Perthshire has enjoyed positive trends in the local property market in the first half of 2015, with sales up on last year, according to the region’s largest agent.

In six months, Perthshire Solicitors Property Centre’s member firms have sold 393 properties totalling just over £70m.

Breaking that down, the average house has sold for £178,238.

The second quarter of the year was a significantly better one for PSPC, with over £40m worth of sales in April, May and June alone.

Both March and June saw improvements in the number of sales compared to last year.

Comparing the statistics to this time last year, Anne Begg, manager at PSPC said: “There are improvements in some areas and slight dips in others.

“During the first half of 2014, PSPC member firms sold just over £78m worth of homes but the average property is selling for more this time around.

“Indeed, without exception, the average property has achieved more each month than its 2014 equivalent.”

Predicting what lies ahead, Mrs Begg added: “Although we are highly unlikely to ever return to the days of properties achieving huge amounts over the asking price, more and more are achieving their asking price.

“A few sell in excess of their asking price but, as a rule, pricing is more consistent and reliable and you are more likely now to achieve your Home Report value than you would have done in the past - good news for us all.”

Another key positive from the statistics relates to the month of June, when 91 properties went “under offer”, a record number over the last five years.
