Perthshire homeopathy business enjoys steadier stream of income thanks to Business Gateway support
A Perthshire business is experiencing a much steadier income stream after receiving support from Business Gateway.
Oak Homeopathy was set up by Caroline Greene in 2011 after she qualified at the Irish School of Homeopathy in Dublin. Ms Greene aims to share the benefits of homeopathy with people in the area and offers an alternative to pharmaceutical medicine.
Homeopathy is described by founder Samuel Hahnemann, as having the aim of promoting and supporting the body’s own natural healing process by administering a remedy that mimics the symptoms of the disease.
Ms Greene highlights the wealth of benefits it can bring to clients with a variety of situations and conditions. Amongst other things, she has treated many women with crippling hormonal issues, including helping them to establish regular and effortless menstrual cycles. Her support has also seen women conceive easily after multiple rounds of IVF and at the other end of fertility, to sail through menopause.
Ms Greene initially believed that as a sole trader she wasn’t able to receive support from Business Gateway, instead using YouTube and books to find out how to grow her business. Her business grew from many personal recommendations, but these were often irregular. This was particularly the case during the Covid-19 pandemic, where Caroline was no longer able to get the word out on the street while she was out and about.
This meant that she needed to find a way to create a steady stream of clients that would ensure a reliable income, and approached Business Gateway for support.
She was introduced to an adviser, Andrew Webster, who provided advice on using social media to drive traffic to her website. This helped to turn the site into a much more active shop front, capable of taking bookings and facilitating other revenue streams.
Andrew Webster also helped Caroline do a full assessment of her business, something business owners don’t always have the time or facilities to do. This allowed Caroline to consider which areas of the business she wanted to improve and Andrew could see how he could help.
Caroline Greene, founder of Oak Homeopathy said: “I really want to help patients harness their inner strength and respond to what their body is telling them in order to bring them back into balance. I’m really glad I approached Business Gateway for help reaching more people - Andrew has been there every step of the way guiding me through the process of running a business. When I have an idea, he helps me work out the steps to putting it into action.”
“Andrew has highlighted grants and resources that might help me and recommended some brilliant free Business Gateway courses which have provided me with tools to make better use of social media and the internet. Andrew and Business Gateway have been such a help to me, and I can’t thank them enough.”
Andrew Webster, Business Gateway adviser, added: “Caroline’s business has been running for 13 years now, but she is proof that it’s never too late to make improvements to the way your business is running and to always keep an eye on ways you can be running it more efficiently. She has made changes to the way she runs the business and promotes herself which have allowed her income to become steadier.
“Caroline has desire to help people find new ways of improving their health and it’s great to see more people finding her support useful.”
