Permanent vacancies in Scotland up more than a quarter

The data, provided by recruitment software company, Innovantage, also reveals a notable increase in vacancies within the IT and engineering & manufacturing sectors which rose by 26 per cent and 14 per cent respectively.

Moya Rylan, regional director at APSCo, said: “Scotland is seeing continued success following months of economic growth. The IT sector in particular is showing a positive increase with the capital, Edinburgh named the fastest growing-city in the UK for technology.”

“There is also great promise for the engineering and manufacturing sector, with recent news of the £60m large scale green project launched by the Scottish government, which looks to attract, retain and develop the low carbon innovators that will shape our future. The transition to a more carbon friendly, prosperous economy offers a valuable economic opportunity, with a predicted employment growth for Edinburgh of 7 per cent by 2022 and overall growth for the technology sector of 22 per cent. This, combined with Scotland’s skills and resources continually developing means it truly is an exciting time for the country.”
