Opus appointed as Hogganfield Care Ltd and Skye Care Limited enter liquidation

Insolvency practitioners Mark Harper and Steven John Parker, partners at Opus Restructuring and Insolvency, have been appointed joint provisional liquidators of two Scottish care firms, Hogganfield Care Ltd and Skye Care Limited, on 5 June 2023.
Hogganfield Care operates a 44-bed nursing home, Hogganfield Care Centre, in Millerston, Glasgow, while Skye Care Limited manages Skye View Care Centre, a 24-bed facility specialising in dementia care in Airdrie.
Mr Harper said: “It has been a very difficult period for operators in the care sector, the cashflow for both Hogganfield Care and Skye View Care Homes has been stretched due to significant increases in energy, food, staffing costs, and other inflationary pressures.
“Unfortunately, the director was unable to resolve these issues, particularly at Hogganfield where occupancy had fallen sharply to an unsustainable level.”
The welfare and dignity of the residents remain paramount to the joint provisional liquidators. They will collaborate closely with care home staff, Glasgow City Council, North Lanarkshire Council, and the Care Inspectorate to ensure that residents are transferred to alternative accommodation as soon as possible. The closure of both care homes will be managed, phased, supported, and controlled.
The joint provisional liquidators will also aid the staff members throughout this transition.
