UK audit, tax and consulting firm, RSM UK, has announced that it has signed a three year agreement with Scottish golfer Paul Lawrie in a further expansion of its sponsorship programme within the sport.

As part of the agreement, the 1999 British Open winner will act as an ambassador for the RSM brand, display the RSM logo on his shirt during tournaments and take part in client and employee events.

Lawrie has an impressive professional record spanning 25 years on the European Tour.

In addition to lifting the Claret Jug at Carnoustie, he has recorded eight European Tour wins and represented Europe twice at the Ryder Cup.

This year, he takes on the role as vice-captain of the European Ryder Cup team for the first time.

Paul Lawrie said: “I have had a long personal association with RSM due to their longstanding support of the Paul Lawrie Golf Centre, and I am delighted to be taking that to a new level as part of Team RSM. This year, I am looking forward to playing a key role as part of the Europe Ryder Cup team and I will be proud to have RSM UK backing me all the way.”

David Gwilliam, chief operating officer for RSM UK, said: “Paul’s success over many years speaks volumes about his professionalism and commitment, and I am sure he will be a fantastic ambassador for the RSM brand.”

The agreement with Paul Lawrie further deepens RSM’s partnership with the game of golf and top level golfers.

The firm was recently named as an official supplier to the European Tour, and this year, RSM will collaborate with the Tour to conduct a bespoke performance study of the game of golf. The focus of this study will be determined in the coming months by a panel of leading golf minds and experts.

In addition to its support for Paul Lawrie, RSM in the UK also backs European Tour player Andy Sullivan, who recently secured his place in the European Ryder Cup team.
