OneBanks founder & CEO Duncan Cockburn lands leading CA award
Duncan Cockburn, the founder and CEO of Glasgow-based OneBanks, has been recognised in the ICAS Top 100 Young CAs 2020 Awards.
Judged annually by the Institute of Chartered Accountants Scotland, the awards recognise outstanding achievement by young CAs, aged under 35, based on three anchor pillars: talent, technology and trust.
Bruce Cartwright, CA, chief executive of ICAS, said: “Talent has rarely been more essential as we seek to balance business activity with safety. Technology, already transforming life before COVID-19, has played an enormous role in keeping businesses operating and the economy going. And trust in business and institutions is vital, as professional advice and skills help to shape the economy and world around us.”
The jury noted the following of Duncan Cockburn added: “For Duncan, good relationships are key to success. His leadership style focuses on the value of teamwork, ensuring that different skills are maximised in pursuit of excellence in service.”
The jury pointed to his entrepreneurial skills and agile and innovative leadership in creating a team of talent to help bring the OneBanks proposition to market.
Duncan Cockburn said: “If there’s one thing 2020 has taught us – it’s that we need people. So, we want to do something really radical to banking… Bring people back. Using open banking, we’ll be partnering with banks that don’t have locations everywhere they would like to. So, people can use their same bank accounts at our OneBanks kiosks located at the heart of the high street community.”
