Ogilvie Group, one of Scotland’s most successful family-owned businesses, today announced the appointment of Willie MacDiarmid as Chairman.

Mr MacDiarmid, who has an extensive track record in chair, non-executive director and CEO roles, said he was “delighted” to be joining the team.

He is currently chairman of Fallago Rig Wind Farm Ltd and a non-executive director at Smart Metering Systems and Business Stream.

Previously, he has served as CEO at both Barchester Healthcare and May Gurney as well as on the main Board at E.A.G.A. PLC. He was also on the senior executive team at Scottish Power, in charge of their Energy Retail Business.

Commenting on his appointment, Mr MacDiarmid said: “I am delighted to be joining the team at Ogilvie and look forward to contributing to the continued success of such a dynamic business.

Last year, Ogilvie Group increased profitability by 33 per cent to £4 million on turnover of £210 million across its operating companies, which include construction, fleet, housebuilding and IT and communications services.
