Ocean Terminal to get £6m revamp
The owner of Edinburgh’s Ocean Terminal shopping centre has announced plans for a £6 million redevelopment the site with a scheme that will “include the introduction of new uses including residential and hotel development”.
Resolution Property, who acquired Ocean Terminal from Forth Ports in 2012, said the investment will include refurbishing the atrium and creating “a new waterfront space”.
The company estimates this work will support 70 jobs in the construction phase.
Subjit Jassy, of Resolution Property, said: “At Ocean Terminal we’re working to create a retail, leisure and cultural destination which is unique to Edinburgh and Scotland.
“By combining major brands with exciting new pop-ups, food outlets and artists, we’re shaking up the mix and creating an experience you won’t find at other centres.
“And, our significant investment in improving the retail and public realm will enhance the experience and stimulate the local economy.”
Resolution Property has also announced fashion retailer H&M has agreed lease terms on a larger 22,000 sq ft unit at the centre.
H&M, which already has a unit in Ocean Terminal, said the re-launched store, due to open in the autumn, will allow it to offer a wider selection across men’s, ladies and children’s fashion ranges.
A spokesperson for H&M, said: “We are delighted to be offering a larger, full concept store in Ocean Terminal in Edinburgh and believe this is an exciting opportunity to expand our brand.”
