President Barack Obama is to address philanthropy and business leaders at a dinner in Edinburgh on 26th May at the EICC.

It will mark Mr Obama’s maiden trip to Scotland and also one of his first major public appearances since leaving office at the end of January.

The first black president of the world’s biggest superpower claims Scottish ancestry through his maternal grandparents.

Hosted by the philanthropy, The Hunter Foundation, all profits from the £5,000-a-head dinner will be invested in charities supporting young people in Scotland.

While the former president made a number of high-profile interventions on Brexit and Scottish independence during his time in the White House, he is expected to restrict his views to social justice.

Like the Hollywood A-listers a jaunt to the Edinburgh cafe Social Bite is expected to be on the itinerary.

Sir Tom Hunter, founder of The Hunter Foundation, said: “From the South Side of Chicago to the White House has been an epic, historic journey and it will be a true honour to hear that story from the man who made that journey. We are both truly proud and delighted to be hosting the 44th President of the United States in Scotland at this event.”
