NZTC launches TechX Clean Energy Accelerator with £500k funding pool
The Net Zero Technology Centre (NZTC) has opened applications for the 2025 cohort of its TechX Clean Energy Accelerator.
Start-ups across the globe can now apply for a place on the programme and a share of £500K grant funding (up to £50,000 for each start-up).
The TechX Clean Energy Accelerator programme will help scale up the most promising clean energy start-ups through expert mentorship, tailored technology development guidance and commercial growth support. The selected start-ups will also have access to NZTC’s extensive network of advisors, investors, energy operators, and the supply-chain.
NZTC welcomes applications from companies at Technology Readiness Level (TRL) three to six, specialising in the following technology focus areas:
- CCUS & methane capture
- Low carbon hydrogen
- Alternative fuels
- Renewable energy
Now in its seventh year, the award winning TechX Clean Energy Accelerator has supported nearly 70 start-ups to date. The programme’s alumni have collectively raised over £106M in equity and generated an aggregate £27.3M in revenue, with the potential to save 20-25 million tonnes of CO2e annually by 2030.
Mark Anderson, chief acceleration officer and TechX director, said: “I am always amazed at the innovations we see each year through our TechX programmes. The disruptive nature of start-ups makes them key players in discovering and advancing nascent technologies that will be required to reach net zero.
“I look forward to welcoming our next cohort of budding start-ups, who will undoubtedly help us unveil new potential to help expedite a future of clean, resilient and affordable energy.”
Deputy First Minister Kate Forbes said: “Scotland is already well placed to capitalise on the enormous opportunities that established clean energy technologies are already delivering. We also have a huge opportunity to be at the forefront of developing the new innovations that will unlock further economic growth and support the energy transition.
“The TechX programme, supported as part of our £90m investment in the Net Zero Technology Centre through the Aberdeen City Region Deal, continues to be an important catalyst in helping start-up businesses and founders unlock this new innovation as part of our transition to net zero.”
The application deadline for TechX’s next cohort is 27 October 2024 with the accelerator set to begin early 2025. Find out more and apply here: www.netzerotc.com/TechX
