North-east accountancy firm invests six-figure sum to expand Aberdeen HQ
A North-east accountancy and business advisory firm has invested £100,000 in new offices in Aberdeen’s west end to accommodate the continued growth of the business.
SBP Accountants and Business Advisers, has relocated its Aberdeen headquarters from its former premises in the city’s Rubislaw Terrace to Carden Place, following the recent acquisition of Andrew Philip Chartered Accountants.
Andrew Philip was founded by Andrew A B Philip in 1962, who operated as a sole trader until the mid 1970s, when partners Bill Wallace and George Morrison joined. Mr Philip retired in 1990, followed by Mr Wallace in 2009, leaving Mr Morrison as the sole owner.
The recent merger has resulted in SBP, which also has offices in Peterhead, Fraserburgh and Banff, tripling the company’s Aberdeen customer base, which comprises a number of high profile North-east based businesses, including a number of oil and gas clients.
The firm’s new headquarters, which are four times the size of its previous base, include a reception area, central filing base, five private offices and two mixed offices, spanning 1540sq ft.
Staff numbers at the city base have grown to 12 full-time employees, resulting in SBP’s six-partner practice increasing employee numbers to 40. In order to meet demand from clients, SBP, will continue to build its expert team, and has also appointed Martin Dalgarno as tax senior,based in Aberdeen.
Mr Dalgarno who has 23 years experience in tax and accountancy roles will be responsible for assisting SBP’s tax partner Alan Masson.

“It is key to have skilled members of staff like Martin, who has vast experience in the sector, working at SBP to ensure a high level of service is offered at all times. The move to new premises will enable us to continue to build on our specialist team to meet demand from our clients.”
SBP offers a variety of business and accountancy services, including personal and business taxation, as well as a dedicated business services department to cover everything including bookkeeping, VAT and payroll requirements.
