EQ Accountants, which employs more than 100 staff across its offices in Dundee, Cupar, Forfar and Glenrothes, has taken its partner count up to 16 following the appointment of Angela Haig.

Ms Haig, 47, who specialises in personal and business taxation, takes up her position within EQ’s Forfar office this week.

Brought up in Montrose, Ms Haig joins the firm as it proceeds with plans to grow further and recruit into a range of positions within the months ahead, from Henderson Loggie and, prior to that, KPMG.

She undertook her examinations with the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland (ICAS), qualifying in 1992.

A graduate of Heriot-Watt University, she went on to become a member of the Chartered Institute of Taxation (CIOT) in 1995.

Mother-of-two Angela, who is also a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland Private Client Sub Committee said: “I am extremely proud to be joining EQ as a Partner.

“The combination of working with a firm of such high calibre, and being based within the Angus area where I grew up, particularly appeals to me. EQ’s vast and varied client base is hugely impressive and I look forward to getting immersed in the business, across all of its offices, and making a tangible difference to both existing and new clients.”

Graeme Davidson, Partner added: “As EQ grows and evolves, it’s essential that we attract the very best people and we are delighted to welcome Angela to our Forfar office. Not only does Angela bring immense experience to EQ, but her status as a member of the Chartered Institute of Tax very much bolsters what we believe is already a very strong tax advisory offering. Angela is well known to the Angus business community and her appointment confirms our intention to deliver a first class service to those businesses.”

EQ’s current turnover is over £6.5 million.
