New managing partner for CMS Aberdeen
Carol Nisbet has been appointed managing partner of CMS’ Aberdeen office.
She succeeds Norman Wisely, who served in the role for the past 10 years.
After serving with another Granite City-based firm for 12 years, Ms Nisbet joined CMS’s Aberdeen team in 2014. She was promoted to partner level in 2019 and also appointed as head of the firm’s Aberdeen real estate team.
A former Scotland board member of Women in Property, she is currently on the Scotland chapter committee of the British Council for Offices.
Ms Nisbet said: “I’m delighted to be taking on this new and exciting role in Aberdeen. We have a strong and dynamic team and I’m excited about the opportunity to lead our office into its next chapter of growth and success.
“Norman has been an exceptional leader, and will continue to provide support and guidance within the firm as he transitions into another internal leadership role.”
She continued: “The office has grown and evolved as the economy has changed over the last 10 years and it is great to take on this position when we have a such a talented and formidable team of lawyers.
“As the North-East economy continues its transition, there are significant opportunities for CMS to further grow its presence in Aberdeen by supporting clients with their legal and business development challenges.
“I look forward to working with my colleagues both here, and across the wider firm, to deliver on this ambition.”
Allan Wernham, Managing Director of CMS Scotland, said: “I would like to welcome Carol as our new Aberdeen Managing Partner and also thank Norman for his immense contribution while serving in this key role.
“Since joining the firm a decade ago, Carol has not only demonstrated her formidable skills as a real estate lawyer but has also become one of the leaders within our Aberdeen team. I look forward to supporting her in this new role in leading our firm’s ongoing growth across the North East.”
