New board and new strategy as Scott-Moncrieff targets 50 per cent growth

Business advisers and accountants Scott-Moncrieff have kicked off the year by announcing a new board for their growing business, which encompasses offices in Edinburgh, Glasgow and Inverness, following a merger last year with Callander Colgan.

The new board, Stewart MacDonald (Managing Partner), Bernadette Higgins, Chris Brown, Nick Bennett and Gareth Magee, was selected from the partner group and will be responsible for the delivery of a new five-year business strategy with the aim of delivering a 50 per cent increase in income alongside substantial improvements to efficiency including major IT investments.

The firm, which is a long-time member of the Moore Stephens international accountancy network but has retained its Scottish identity, said the new strategy has been introduced following a comprehensive review and consultation.

Stewart MacDonald said: “This is an important development for our business, and will help to drive an assertive growth plan as part of a new ambitious five-year strategy. We have always been very client focused and that has paid dividends, particularly through tough times. However, the new approach underlines the importance that our strategy places on our own business. Our standard of client service has always been extremely high. What we’re seeking to do now is to ensure that our operational areas are just as highly regarded and are geared up to boost our growth potential.”

Bernadette Higgins said: “It’s no mistake that much our strategy is inward looking. A new focus on our people, their benefits and work life balance and the way their performance is measured, will position us well for the next five years. This is an area where we frequently help our own clients – growth comes from many places, and having an efficient, motivated workforce is a significant step towards achieving commercial goals.”

Gareth Magee, business development partner, added: “Our growth will be led by our sector groups, including technology, financial services, public sector and charities, all sectors where the firm has already won a raft of new clients of late. But alongside efficiency and business development, we’ll also have an eye on exciting acquisitions too.”

Scott-Moncrieff has 20 partners and almost 200 staff, and selected its new five-strong board from the partner group.
