Muir Construction begins £4.7m Fraserburgh Harbour development
Muir Construction has started work on a £4.7 million project to build a bespoke operations and maintenance facility and associated office accommodation for Moray Offshore Windfarm (East) Ltd.
After being contracted during the COVID-19 lockdown, the project team – including architects Corstorphine + Wright, structural engineers Wallace Stone, quantity surveyors KLM and services engineers CCDP – established a supply chain and began planning the works.
After collaborative meetings with the design team, work started on site in mid-June. It is expected that the project will take just under a year to be completed. MOWEL will take early occupation to install some of their specialist equipment.
The Fraserburgh Harbour development, which incorporates a 14,000 square foot office space and 4,500 square foot storage space, will include the most up-to-date maintenance equipment required to support the latest generation of windfarm equipment.
David Fairweather, business development director at Muir Construction, said: “It was a pleasure working with such a pro-active client and design team, allowing us to very quickly agree the structure of the contract and the contract documentation, paving the way for what I’m sure will be a very successful project.”
